Volunteer Opportunities
Welcome Table Wednesdays
Every Wednesday, St. Francis hosts a free weekly dinner for the community at 6:00 PM. Volunteers work in rotating teams to prepare and provide meals each week. All are invited
Dinner Team: Help to prepare dinner for the community dinner.
Qualifications: An interest in cooking.
Time Commitment: 2 hours (4:30-6:30pm) on assigned Wednesday, usually 1 time every 3 weeks.
Clean-up Crew: Clean up after Community Dinner (washing dishes, folding tablecloths, sweeping, etc.).
Qualifications: Eagerness to help.
Time Commitment: 1 hour (6pm -7pm) on assigned Wednesday, usually 1 time every 3 weeks

Community Garden
Join with us in watering and tending the St. Francis community garden and share in its produce. Planting begins in the spring with continued up-keep and there are plenty of vegetables in summer and fall.
Gardener: Tend the community garden, weeding, seeding, planting, harvest.
Qualifications: An interest in gardening and working outdoors.
Time Commitment: Commitments vary during the season

Indoor Choice Pantry
Our Indoor Choice Pantry has shelves of nonperishable and personal items that are available for free. If you would like to shop by appointment on Sunday or Wednesday, then please sign up for a time HERE. If you would like to volunteer for this ministry, then click HERE.
Store Attendant: Organize the food on the shelves, create labels for the stocked up, and collect food from the community.
Qualifications: Detail oriented and enjoys organizing.
Time Commitment: 1 hour per month, or more often if desired

Special Events
Occasionally there are one day events that serve the community in very specific ways. These include Pantry-on-the-Go, Gift distribution at Christmas time, Trunk-or-Treat, Health Fair, Back to School Night, and more. Duties and time commitments will vary depending on the event.

Pantry on the Go
Through Partnership with the United Way, the Maryland Food Bank, and Wells Fargo we distributed 500,000 pounds of food to Baltimore County Residents in 2018. We have over 100 families come to each event.
There are various roles for volunteers at this event including carting boxes of food from the truck into the building, organizing food on tables, bagging produce, greeting families, and cleaning up after the event. Every St. Francis volunteer should have a current volunteer application on file that includes contact information and emergency contacts. Fingerprinting and Background checks are required to work with children.
Safe Church Training: 3 hour training required every 3 years by the Diocese usually held at St. Francis. First time must be in person, renewal can be online
MSDE Medical Form: Medical certification signed by a doctor needed to work with children.
Program Specific Training: 1 hour training with a program leader at St. Francis done at a convenient time.
