Nurturing Relationship with God, Self, and Neighbor

SSS

June 8, 2022 - St. Francis Spiritual Sustenance with the Rev. Dr. Amy Slaughter Myers

When I consider your heavens...what is man that you should be mindful of him? (Ps 8: 4-5) Americans in the 21st century have a much more complex understanding of the human person than the Psalmist. After all, we have the benefit of centuries of scientific, medical, psychological, physiological exploration of our bodies, minds, and emotions. We know more - we think we know more, at least - about what it is to be human. In the Episcopal tradition, reason is held along with scripture, tradition, (and experience), to be part of the gifts God has given us to know and love God and all God's works. In my experience, what humans have learned scientifically (using the gift of reason) only enriches my awe and wonder and joy at God's creation. It enriches my discipleship - how I love God and self and neighbor and what might get in the way of that love. On Sunday, June 12 from 1:00-5:00 PM at St. Francis Episcopal Parish and Community Center, Community Organizer Molly Phelps, LMSW is offering an in-person retreat and training that will help us go deeper into relationship with one another, relationship with self, and with God. It is called "Nurturing Relationship, Navigating Conflict". Recently, Molly led the Vestry and Officers in this work and it was powerful. There are opportunities for reflection, sharing in pairs and in small groups. Let Molly know you plan to attend. Peace.
