Healing in the Time of Illness with the Rev. Dr. Kristofer Lindh-Payne

SSS

St. Francis Spiritual Sustenance : July 19, 2022 ================================

Kristofer’s reflection today invites us to consider what healing looks like in our own lives, as he points to all varieties of examples in scripture. Are there particular examples of biblical accounts that come to mind for you? Are there specific experiences of healing that you have encountered in your own life? As you will hear in Kristofer’s video, he was pretty sick from Covid over the past couple weeks. While he is still recovering, Kristofer is feeling so much better than he was and gives thanks to God for vaccines and boosters. Being reminded of our limitations can be both challenging and humbling. When we are forced to slow down and examine our lives, these times of struggle with illness can also be a powerful opportunity for prayer. Listen in, as Kristofer wrestles with how prayer can shape and reshape our lives when our physical bodies seem to fail us. What has that looked like in your life?

This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen. (BCP 461)
