Peace, Be Still with the Rev. Dr. Kristofer Lindh-Payne

St. Francis Spiritual Sustenance : August 2, 2022 ===================================

In today’s video, Kristofer invites us to ponder the Gospel accounts in Matthew (8), Mark (4), and Luke (8) in which Jesus calms the storm while out on a boat with the disciples. How often in our own lives do we long to have Jesus bring stillness to the tumultuous “waters” around us? Prayer invites us to encounter those experiences in ways that bring our attention to God’s presence with us, give us perspective, and center us. In this reflection, Kristofer shares more details of this recent unexpected journey of healing he has been on and the ways in which the Holy Spirit is at work in the midst of challenges. What are the spiritual practices that are guiding and sustaining you, as you navigate the waters of this life? Are there ways that you are being called to grow or change in that prayer posture as you move deeper in relationship with God?

Matthew (8:23-27) - Jesus Stills the Storm 23

And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. 24 A windstorm suddenly arose on the sea, so great that the boat was being swamped by the waves, but he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” 26 And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a dead calm. 27 They were amazed, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?”
