“St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra” with the Rev. Dr. Kristofer Lindh-Payne

SSS

St. Francis Spiritual Sustenance : December 6, 2022 =========================================================

In today’s reflection, Kristofer invites us to remember St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, c. 342. There are many ways in our present-day lives that we weave together stories of his life and conflate his ministry with other mythic figures (i.e.: Santa Claus, Kris Kringle, etc.). To learn more about St. Nicholas, click HERE.

From the life of this saint, Kristofer picks up the theme of solidarity with and advocacy for those in poverty, and encourages us to think about how this challenges us at St. Francis in the ministry that we do together. Kristofer shares one example of how he is inspired by St. Nicholas, as he speaks about the Homeless Memorial that stands across from the Baltimore County Courthouse in Towson and imagines what it could look like for the church to provide housing for those most vulnerable in our communities. In what ways are you inspired to “do justice and love mercy” by the saint?
