SSS with Chris Phillips

It is with joy and excitement that we announce great news regarding the ordination of Chris Phillips to the sacred order of deacons. Chris was approved for ordination in the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago by Bishop Jeffrey Lee, who will preside at the service and ordain Chris in his diocese this Saturday, October 31st at 4pm EST.

For those who might not know, Chris served as an intern in the former Epiphany and St. Thomas-Epiphany congregations over a one year time span. Chris is now volunteering with the St. Francis Youth Group, as he continues his full-time ministry as a chaplain at St. Paul’s School.

Chris will serve as deacon in our worship for the first time this All Saints Sunday, Nov 1, at the 9am virtual service. The announcements will include the giving of some gifts to Chris from the St. Francis Parish community.

Please keep Chris in your prayers, as this ordained ministry unfolds for him. Every process for ordination is a little bit different, but Chris will likely serve for 6-12 months as a transitional deacon before being ordained as a priest.
