Chris and Fellow Servants of the Lord

SSS

Today’s daily Lectionary includes a reading from the Book of Revelation, where an angel speaks to St. John, and St. John falls down to worship at the angel’s feet. The angel responds by exclaiming “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow prophets and with all who keep the words of this scroll. Worship God!” As a newly ordained deacon, I’ve been considering what it means to enter into a ministry of servant leadership, and what it means to serve God through service to others. More broadly, as members of a community of faith, how are we each called to serve as part of the ministry of the baptized?
