The inaugural Baltimore County Education Justice Table launched this week (November 15, 2022) at an open community meeting at Union Bethel AME Church in Randallstown. As a founding member of the Education Justice Table, St. Francis Episcopal Parish and Community Center joined members from the Randallstown NAACP, the Teachers Association of Baltimore County (also known as TABCO), the Baltimore County NAACP, the League of Women Voters of Baltimore County, and Bridge Maryland Incorporated to announce its intent to encourage educators to work with community partners in the best interest of students.

"The group aims to improve and protect public education and ensure justice and accountability," reported Kristen Griffith of the Baltimore Banner. "Its focus includes advocating for an equitable school budget and expanding community schools that provide support services to students and their families."

St. Francis Episcopal Parish and Community Center's Community Organizer Molly Phelps LCSW-C gave testimony at the coalition's press conference on Tuesday night. Molly explained, "We have three areas of work: budget advocacy, Community Schools, and a big ambitious goal. To help us to determine our big ambitious goal, we are going to embark upon a listening campaign in key areas around the county that have concentrations of Community Schools. We hope that this will shed light on the challenges that are important to community members that relate to education."
