The Power of Origin Stories

In todays’ video, Kristofer reflects a bit on the life of St Anskar (865), bishop, missionary, and “Apostle to the North” (Scandinavia), whose Feast Day was Feb 3. You can read more about his life here or here.

Kristofer also shares some stories about his family’s connection with Sweden and invites us all to ponder our own origin stories. Where do your people come from?

The appointed reading for St. Anskar’s feast day has us focused on Genesis (11:1-9) and the tower of Babel. In that scriptural account, we are given the foundational story of why humanity speaks so many languages and the mythological source of our divisions as a people. As we ponder our own individual and family stories, the biblical stories of the people of God, and the emerging story of what God is doing in and through St. Francis at this time, what are the points of convergence that you see? What story are you longing to tell?
