Sorrow and Comfort

Saturday, over a dozen people came to St. Thomas to help clean out everything and prepare for the sale of the building. Many, many thanks to everyone who came to help. We cleaned out nearly every room with the wonderful help we had. And special thanks to Sharon Greenbeck, our Junior Warden, for organizing the day.

Cleaning out St. Thomas left room for memories to flood in, and I found myself dealing with more grief than I expected. Grief is not something I'm very good at processing. And so this week I will be processing the grief of seeing a place I worked for nine years stand empty. I add it to the grief I feel about the state of our country, the racism that is rampant, and the virus that has taken 110,000 lives. The one thing I know in all of this is that we are not alone. God walks with us. When we ask, God, through the Holy Spirit, is our Comforter. In that I find great solace.
