Cellars, Lamps, and Lampstands with Rev. Dr. Kristofer Lindh-Payne

SSS

St. Francis Spiritual Sustenance: June 28, 2022

In today’s video, we find Kristofer literally stumbling around in the darkness of his cellar. Don’t be alarmed, he does find his way to the light switch fairly quickly. The power of light is amazing - especially when you are finally able to see what’s directly in front of you as you walk. Kristofer’s message invites us to reflect on today’s Gospel lesson from Luke (11: 33-36) wherein Jesus declares that “no one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar, but on the lampstand so that all those who enter may see the light”. There are indeed times in our lives where we find ourselves fumbling around in the dark - individually and collectively. In these times of darkness, we can turn to God to light our way. We can also count on one another for support and guidance, as we seek to find our way. Let us pray: Be our light in the darkness, O Lord, and in your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this time; for the love of your only Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. (BCP p. 133) May you encounter the illuminating presence of Christ in the day ahead and may you share that presence with all those you meet.
