"Not Only with Our Lips But in Our Lives" by the Rev. Dr. Amy Slaughter Myers

St. Francis Spiritual Sustenance : October 12, 2022 ========================================

Walk in Walk in love as Christ loved us and gave himself for us an offering and sacrifice to God. (Eph 5:2)

What does it mean to pray "in common"? What does it mean to pray "in community"?

Today we reflect on the first chapter of Walk in Love: Episcopal Beliefs and Practices by Scott Gunn and Melody Wilson Shobe. What we say in church matters because it shapes how we are in the world, how we are in our lives, what actions we take or don't take. And that matters not just for each one of us as individuals; it matters for us as a community. What actions will our community at St. Francis Episcopal Parish and Community Center take or not take? How does what we do in our worship life form us?

Liturgical resources in the Episcopal Church are much wider than the 1979 Book of Common Prayer that you may already be familiar with, and they are changing and evolving under the direction of the Task Force on Liturgical and Prayer Book Revision, a church-wide body with diverse members that seek to stay faithful to the wider Anglican tradition while meeting the moment that the Episcopal Church finds itself now.
