"Letting Go of What's Old to Receive What's New" by the Rev. Dr. Amy Slaughter Myers

SSS

St. Francis Spiritual Sustenance January 10, 2023 =====================================

See, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare...(Isaiah 42:9)

Scripture tells us that God is always making all things new.

Including you. Including me.  Including relationships and families and communities to which we belong.

Indeed God makes all creation new.

You and I are called like the Magi on the Feast of the Epiphany to set all that's old down at the feet of Jesus - to let go of our attachments to what was and what has been so that we may receive with open hearts God's gift of Newness, the grace of New Life in Christ Jesus. What is God calling you to let go of this Epiphany season? How is God making you a new creation?

Amy preaches on the first Sunday after the Epiphany when the Church celebrates the Feast of the Baptism of our Savior. The Scripture passages she refers to are Isaiah 42:1-9; Matthew 3:13-17.
