In the Gospel reading for Sunday, September 4, 2022, Jesus is telling a crowd about what it required to be his disciple (Luke 14:25-33).

He says some things that are hard to hear, and even harder to take at face value. This is an example of when it's really important to contextualize what Jesus is saying, and look at the big picture of the Gospel message - not just at the one piece that the lectionary highlights.
