A Maundy Thursday Meditation

In Matthew 26:36-45, Jesus has retreated to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray after having his last supper with his friends. His anguish is apparent and he pleads with his friends to stay awake and be present with him.

Last year, after the Maundy Thursday service at STEEP, we processed to the Memorial Garden and that experience had such a profound effect on me. Chanting the Taize prayer and hearing the Gospel Reading of the Garden of Gethsemane surrounded by the STEEP family was very powerful. Please join me in a Maundy Thursday meditation by singing a Taize chant and reflecting on the passage from Matthew.

I pray that you find a moment to be at peace and that you feel the love of the STEEP family and the love of Jesus Christ surrounding you during these Holy Days. -- Janet Hager
