Kristofer and Siblings in Christ

Siblings in Christ

In today’s SSS video, Kristofer continues to reflect on the scripture readings from this past Sunday. He tries to unpack how Jesus envisioned our sibling connectivity and what that means in our day to day lives. In the passage below from Mark’s gospel account, we are given a glimpse into what it looks like when we seek to align our will with God’s and how that draws us together in powerful, intimate relationship. In his reflection, Kristofer shares experiences of the connection he sees between St. Francis Episcopal Parish & Community Center, the Order of St. Francis (of which he is apart) and the weeklong College for Congregational Development training he is doing at the Claggett Center this week. He invites us all to question how we choose to spend our time, individually and collectively. He encourages us to explore whether the decisions we are making are in alignment with what God is calling us to do and be. As we seek to live into God’s mission for us at St. Francis, may we all wonder as we wander in seeking the Spirit’s will for us. When we struggle to discern our way forward, pursuing what the Lord requires of us, before we decide the way to walk in, can we simply pause to ask these questions: Is it just? Is it loving and merciful? Does it embody humility?

Mark 3:30-35
Then his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside, they sent to him and called him. A crowd was sitting around him; and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, asking for you.” And he replied, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” And looking at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother”.
