The Children of God Finding their Way in the Desert Wilderness

As children of God at St. Thomas-Epiphany, we seek creative ways to gather in worship and fellowship across great physical distance in the hope that God’s great love draw us closer together on this wilderness journey.

Jesus called a child, whom he put among them and said, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. (Matthew 18:2-5 NRSV)

As I was preparing my reflections for this week, and rather frantically trying to figure how to manage and anticipate the complicated changes we are being faced with at this time, I stepped outside on our back deck to get a breath of fresh air and some much needed perspective. My daughter (Lillian) was playing quietly on the porch, when I walked past. She asked, “Daddy, can I tell you a story?” Before the pressured words could be forced from my lips, “Sweet heart, I can’t right now. Daddy has to work?”, I felt a gentle nudge within my heart and mind. That Spirit-filled movement overrode the panicky feeling I was immersed in, and guided me to slow down, to stop and to listen.

This is what I heard. Don’t feel like you need to watch the whole video in order to connect and find some grounding in God’s story in your life. I wonder how you are being called to slow down, stop, and listen, during this stress-filled time. I wonder...I wonder...
