Welcoming the New

Sometimes when I go down to the river to pray, I read poetry. Today I am sharing with you a poem called "I Praise You for What Is Yet to Be." It's by Ted Loder and you can find it in his book Guerillas of Grace: Prayers for the Battle. This book was given to me by someone at St. Francis.

"Down to the River to Pray" is a traditional song. The song asks God's presence and the community's presence as the singer continues her walking the path of discipleship. It's also sung at rivers during baptisms in some Christian traditions. To hear a version by Alison Krauss from the movie O Brother, where art thou? click here.
