Look, Here is Water! with the Rev. Dr. Kristofer Lindh-Payne

St. Francis Spiritual Sustenance: July 12, 2022

=====================================

Summertime is here and we imagine that many of you are seeking refreshing waters in which to cool off. Oceans, rivers, lakes, and pools are popular destinations for relief from the heat and can be a place of refuge from the day-to-day challenges of life. What are the sacred waters that call to you and offer you re-creation in this season?

Today’s video focuses on a passage in the book of Acts wherein the Apostle Philip has a powerful interaction with an influential leader from Ethiopia (Acts 8:26-4). While it is worth reading the whole story to see what parts of the story get your attention, Kristofer reflects on the posture of readiness and the thirst that this foreigner exuded. He is startled by how prepared the Ethiopian was to receive the gifts that Philip and God had to offer. In Kristofer’s message, he also tells his own story of a recent encounter with a young man who - seemingly out of the blue - asks him about getting baptized. The interaction he describes is quite amazing!

The Holy Spirit flows freely through our lives and there are indeed moments when God calls to us to take an enthusiastic running leap into the sacred waters before us.

How will you respond to this invitation?
