"Prayground Worship: An Interactive Prayer Experience for Our Children" with the Rev. Sara Yoe

SSS

St. Francis Spiritual Sustenance : September 30, 2022 ========================================

In today's video, Sara shares some of the origins of "Prayground Worship." Though the first version of this practice was created for an assignment in seminary, Sara has adapted it to fit the needs of the families at St. Francis Episcopal Parish & Community Center, based on what they had heard from parents about hopes for their kids' spiritual development.

Children, with all of their movement and noise, are made in the image of God, and as such, Sara believes that they should get to experience prayer in ways that engage all of their senses and in ways that encourage movement and noise. So, once a month, on Saturday evenings at 5 pm, children through 5th grade (and their parents) are welcome to come to Prayground Worship!

Each month, we'll learn about a different Saint, and we'll do an interactive prayer activity in the spirit of that Saint. This past weekend, we focused on St. Francis and built a church together in the playground! We will always close with a picnic Agape meal, which Sara defines briefly in the video, and you can also read more about those here - yes, it's wikipedia but Sara promises it's solid info!

October's Prayground Worship will be on Saturday, October 15 at 5 pm, and we will be learning all about St. Sebastian, the patron Saint of athletes! So get ready for some movement - it's bound to be a fun time!
